Have you always wanted to write concert reviews or interview your favorite artists? Are you a photographer who wants to learn more about concert photography? Pass The Mic wants to hear from you! We’re looking for submissions in writing and photography from women, trans, non-binary and gender nonconforming folks. No previous experience necessary! Below are some guidelines for getting in touch:
Please send all submissions to passthemic(at)gmail.com
Pass The Mic focuses on concert reviews, conversations, playlists, and features. Here’s what you need to know about sharing your ideas with us.
Concert Reviews: Tell us which show you want to review (send the artist/date/venue and a link to an event page if available)! Let us know if you will provide photos or if you want us to send a photographer with you.
Conversations: Send us the name of the musician/creator/awesome person you want to talk to, and a few sentences about why you want to talk to them.
Playlists: Tell us your concept for the playlist! (Is it a mixtape of new-wave surf punk? Songs about your favorite season? Tunes to work out to? Let us know!)
Features: These could focus on a particular musician/creator/awesome person — like a conversation, but presented in prose rather than a transcribed conversation. Features can also include personal essays about a genre of music, a venue that you love, that one time you went on a road trip to see your favorite artist, or anything else — be creative! Send us a few sentences explaining your concept for a feature.
Concert Reviews: Tell us which show you want to review (send the artist/date/venue and a link to an event page if available)! Let us know if you will write a review or if you want us to send a writer with you.
Portraits: Let us know who you want to photograph, and why you want to take portraits of them.
Photo Essays: Want to document your favorite venues? Share photos of your band’s writing process? Show what goes into recording an album? Send us a few sentences explaining your idea.
Do you think your music would be a good fit for Pass The Mic? Get in touch! Right now, Pass The Mic doesn’t publish previews or album reviews, but we’re always looking for new artists to include in conversations, playlists, features, and more.
Have an idea that isn’t covered here? We still want to hear from you! Shoot us an email and we’ll brainstorm a way to make your voice heard.
