Somewhere in Minnesota, there’s an underground bunker turning out some of the happiest and loudest rock in the state. Courtney, Alyse, and Erik make up the trio ahem, and together they write playful songs about climbing trees and taking the winding path through life.
At the heart of ahem, is the trio’s friendship, which the band explained helps them feel comfortable taking risks in their music. “I think our creative process is really playful,” explained Courtney.
After releasing the EP’s Just Wanna Be and Chutes and Ladders, ahem are coming out with their debut full-length album Try Again on November 1 with Forged Artifacts. I sat down with the band in a studio in Minneapolis — and had no idea that it was the same exact spot where ahem recorded Try Again (or that my producer Allie helped them make the album).
