It seems like 2019 just got started, but already this year is filled with new releases an announcements about upcoming projects — St. Vincent is producing the forthcoming Sleater Kinney album, Lizzo has a new full-length on the way, Maggie Rogers made her major label debut — but here are just a few that caught my eye from this past month!
St. Paul-based artist Dua Saleh dropped the EP Nūr earlier this month. Their style evades classification into one neat genre, as it melds crisp drum samples with gooey bass lines and Saleh’s cascading vocals.
Phoebe Bridgers teamed up with Conor Oberst to release the self-titled album, Better Oblivion Community Center. One of Bridgers’ fellow collaborators, Lucy Dacus, also shared her take on the classic, “La Vie En Rose” in time for Valentine’s Day. The song is the first in Dacus’ upcoming album 2019, which will commemorate various holidays.
Aussie singer-songwriter Stella Donnelly shared two new singles from her upcoming album, Beware of the Dogs (out March 8, 2019). “Are you scared of me old man, or are you scared of what I’ll do?” she sings on “Old Man.” “You grabbed me with an open hand, the world is grabbing back at you.”
Lizzo shared “Juice,” and announced her upcoming album Cuz I Love You, which she will release in April. There are plenty of other new releases from Ex Hex, Diva Sweetly, Priests, and more, so check out the full playlist below!
